- College's web page for Math Learning Lab
This page on the College's web site provides information and phone numbers for the Learning Lab. This is where you can go for free tutoring with a peer tutor. You must make an appointment. You can either make the appointment by walking in, or what makes more sense for distance learners, call for a tutoring appointment. This can be a valuable service for those working on their own. Please remember that tutors are not professors, so they may not be able to help with a few areas but they do a fine job.Anything directly or indirectly related to being enrolled in the course will appear on this page as well as directions to which web site pages the student should go to find other elements such as the syllabus, student work schedule, TV listings and other resources.
- How the student will be graded
Your grade with be based on a midterm and a final exam, weighted equally. Participation is encouraged and should improve your grade. There is no formal participation component (yet), but clearly not participating will produce lower grades in most instances.
- What work is expected of the student
Students enrolled in a telecourse are expected to view all broadcast episodes (at a minimum) or tape for later viewing and re-viewing. Assigned problems in the text are to be attempted. Students with difficulty completing assignments are expected to seek tutoring as well as contact the instructor with specific questions. The instructor will not provide a private lecture on a topic but will help with specific problems or points of understanding either by phone, e-mail, or other means. If you missed the orientation and have delayed getting the text and working problems, then you will be shocked how fast things get around to the midterm.
