The distance learning version of this course, with or without televised lessons, relies heavily on student responsibility for completing assignments in a timely manner. If you fall behind, you are risking never catching up. Be sure to follow the suggested dates on the syllabus. If you are having a problem with some topic, seek help as soon as possible. Since you are "on your own" much of the time, take advantage of the communication features of this web site. This is your opportunity to communicate with the instructor as well as other students in the class. While you may find other resources on this web site helpful, communication is the key to success in this course. Your instructor has provided three main ways to communicate:
  1. By individual e-mail. You may wish to send an individual e-mail to your instructor or another student with any questions.
  2. By group e-mail. You can send a single message to the entire class. This will probably be used more by the instructor to make announcements to the class, but it has been set up for you to use as well, if you find that you wish to hold a group e-mail discussion.
  3. Discussion forum. This is a way to post messages that can be read and replied to by others in the class as well as your intructor, who will be monitoring this message board. Unlike e-mail, which just arrives at your computer, you have go register for the forum and then make an effort to go there. You may find it valuable to read other student questions and answers. It may save you time.
