Dating, Sexuality, and disABILITIES

updated GIFJuly 13, 2008 - 3 sites closed, so suggestions welcome

This section contains three articles on a sensitive topic many are embarrassed to face. They were written after interviewing an urologist specializing in the subject, but as with all material of this nature: consult with your own physician before making any changes. They also, of necessity, contain frank and explicit material. But they are colored by my own firm belief that sex without love is empty. These articles are written to help two people who love each other keep that love alive and not shut each other out.

For Men: Incontinence and Impotence Men are particularly prone to the misconception that impotence equals asexuality. Wrong! And incontinence is an embarrassing condition that cause many people to shut themselves off from others needlessly. I try to address both issues as thoroughly as possible in an article such as this.

For Women: Sexuality and Bladder Infections Just as men are conditioned to unrealistic expectations of women, women are victim of the same conditioning and when disability strikes, can shut down as easily as men. And these problems are linked in some ways and I decided to address them together.

For Couples: Sex and Disability. This chapter is aimed at couples, with sensitization exercises for men and women, depending on which partner has disabilities.
