This page was set up to offer a selection of sites designed to help both established writers and those wanting to break into the profession. These are only a few sites, but they will lead you to many more. If interested in finding books to purchase check out my Science Fiction page (scroll down to Online Book Stores) for book store sites or go to an interesting new site: FetchBook.Info where you enter Book Title, ISBN or Author to search 60-some book seller sites for the best prices.

Pre.S.

Self-publishing is not a dirty word! (more resources below this admittedly self-serving little promo - feel free to scroll down)

"Vanity publishing" as it's often called has three draw-backs: expense, lack of publicity, and getting into book stores. I am happy to say that I have found a publisher that minimizes those obstacles. No, you don't get an advance, and yes, you have to pay to get published and work on promoting your own work (But face it, the latter is essential anyway).

But:

I have now (well, in 2004) published three high-quality books with iUniverse, and the time from submission to availability on the iUniverse site and at Barnes and Noble Books (just provide the ISBN #) and on Barnes and Noble online (click on "Books" and select "Author" as keyword, enter "F. Alexander Brejcha" and then click "Search"), Amazon, and half a dozen other sites is QUICK! My initial submissions were in mid-April 2004, and not only have I already received very high quality free copies (from five to 25 depending on if a special is in place) of the books, but all three books are already (June 23 ) available to purchase online in trade paperback or Adobe e-book format (with an author discount) on the iUniverse site with a complete book description also posted, as well as a "browse before you buy" feature that allows previewing of the books. Other sites also already offer the books for sale. Compare this to the sluggish commercial publisher's time line and an almost inescapable need to be represented by an agent - who takes a cut.

Not only is the iUniverse process quick, but it is handled by able and creative designers and publishing assistants who are constantly available to help and answer questions.

If you are willing to copy-edit and work to promote your books, you can't go wrong with iUniverse - which is also cheaper than many other subsidy publishers.

TO ORDER: Go to my Home page and scroll down to the cover pictures and click on any cover to go straight to the publisher's order page for that book where you can read more about the book, click on "Buy it Now" to order it, or click on "Browse before you buy" to sample it.
