TO CREATE CHROME

First start out with a photo. The photo should be in black and white, otherwise this'll be a pretty ugly little experiment. Now, after you've converted to Greyscale, blur the image (Filter/Blur/Gaussian Blur) with a radius of about 3 pixels. Next, make two copies of the present layer. To do this, click on the little dogeared page thingy in the Layers palette (Window/Palettes/Layers) twice. Now, offset the first copy by about 5, 5 (Filter/Other/Offset) Fine. Now take the second copy and offset it the negative amount of pixels (i.e. -5, -5) and set the image's mode to Difference. Finally, experiment with the image's curves (Image/Adjust/Curves) to create a nice shiny effect. The curves should look something like the image at right.
