![]() Mealey's Lair -- one of the computer-rendered stages of Mortal Wombat | Mortal Wombat is a game that I'm currently writing, along with Gumbug and Redgoat. It will feature digitized video of us and a few other nerds punching and kicking in front of a blue screen (you won't see the blue screen), as well as actual digitized video of William "Mad Dog" Mealey, High School Biology teacher and mass-murderer (unproven). |
I'm afraid that since Mortal Wombat is just getting
started, there isn't much info to post here, but as it develops, I'll post screen shots and
files. It'll be a commercial product, probably selling for $25 on CD-ROM,
and we might include a deluxe version of Deala 2 on the
same CD-ROM, depending on how much free space is left on the disc.
This is actually going to be a fairly large-scale project; there'll be
at least two people working on coding (myself and
Gumbug.) and we've got someone writing original music,
I'll be doing sound effects and graphics, as well as interface design, web stuff, and
various things (setting up the blue screen and lighting, providing food for everyone, etc.).
Because of this, we think it's fair to charge money for Mortal Wombat, and we've tried to
set a fair price for it. (Come on, it's $25 for a CD-ROM! Cheap!) If you disagree,
mail me and I'm sure we can work something out.
(For example, you give us the money, we give you the CD-ROM. That sounds reasonable to me.)
Mortal Wombat will be a long-term project, and we expect to spend several months working on it;
hopefully it will be completed in November or December, but we can't really promise anything.
It's being written in (hopefully) portable C++, and will be Windows 95/98/NT native. If you feel
like writing a Mac or Unix port of Mortal Wombat, mail
us and let us know. I would link to the official Mortal Wombat site, but since Electric Stoat
will soon be moving to its own server, there wouldn't be much point, since I'd just have a broken
link. However, as soon as the El Stoat page is up, I will link to it, and all will be well.
