How to create a ghost effect HOW TO CREATE A NICE PHOTO GHOST EFFECT
First, select an image that will look good as a ghost; prefarably a photograph of a person for maximum ghostliness. Next, copy the photo into a new layer (click on the image in the Layers palette and drag to the dog-eared page) Now, open a copy of the image (just File/Open) and select all of it. Now, go back to the other copy of the image, the one that has two layers of itself, and click on the triangle at the upper right-hand corner, then select Add Layer Mask.
Now, go back to the other window with that image, take the selected portion, and drag it over to the other window. Fine. The results do seem less than spectacular at first, but now take the other layer, the one that you are not adding the mask to, and delete it--drag it to the trash. Ta-da! You now have a ghost.
