I have been playing Stellar Crisis as the empire BigB for over 7 years, ever since a friend of mine at work told me he saw it while surfing the web one day. At the time Stellar Crisis was located at lenox.com where the author, Sylvan Clebsch was working. Refinements came hot and heavy in those days. If Sylvan liked an idea, it went into the game. Quite often an idea was mentioned on the sc-talk list in the morning, and by that evening was incorporated into the game. After Lenox went belly up, SC moved to libertynet.com where it resided for a while. After that, SC was in limbo for a while as a search for a new server was being done. The Sellar Crisis code was then GPL'd and two new sites at knotwork.com and lysator came to life. David Hedbor at lysator made a number of refinements to the code. Following that, SC lived on several other servers around the world. Today, at least 5 versions of Stellar Crisis are alive and well on a number of servers. I currently play on the Lugdunum server run by Andy Graves who has done a lot to improve the Stellar Crisis experience. A complete up to date server listing can be found at the SC Room. I have seen the game go through a lot of changes in all of that time and it has evolved quite nicely. There is a fairly large core of regular players now and a multitude of player pages on the web.
BigB has played many gamesover the years. These are maps of some of the more fun or interesting games that I have played, all as BigB. I do have a few other empires, but I almost never play any of them. These days I play a lot less frequently, mostly in Tournaments or arranged games. I am currently competing in the International Stellar Crisis League for the team called The Deadly Three. We are in First Place for the regular season in Division B.
| BigB vs Skai | First game against Skai while he was a newbie | |
| BigB vs Tirion | A very lucky game for me. Tirion has a major setup advantage and colonized 2 of my planets. First I got a flyby and got a sci thru to his Homeworld. Then another flyby got my fleet to his HW at the same time his landed on me. Guess who won the tossup? | |
| BigB vs Ah | He won our first game, this is the rematch | |
| BigB vs Musashi | An early one of our now many games played against each other | |
| BigB vs Skai | Another game against Skai after he had been playing for a while | |
| BigB vs Skai | Third game against Skai. Although Skai has a setup disadvantage with our HomeWorlds just 2 jumps apart, he puts up a valiant effort and stops several nuke attempts. | |
| BigB vs Agt | A nice 6 planet pop trick put me in position to control the double chain. Then, an engineering move to close the link from 23,17 to Palmyr cut Agt off from a 2 pronged attack and isolated him from a needed forward planet. He conceeded after I nuked Ludos. | |
| BigB vs fabkey | Patience allowed me to do a very nice 7 planet pop trick including 17,21, which was fabkey's #10 planet. That put me in position to control the northern pipeline. Then, an engineering move to close the link from 15,23 to 16,23 by fabkey cut him off from any further chance at colonization. | |
| BigB vs Desperado | Desperado is an OldTimer I have been wanting to play one on one for a long time. We finally get it on in a game featuring an almost critical error followed by 2 pop tricks to recover the win quite nicely. | |
| BigB vs Desperado | BigB and Desperado go at it again in a rematch. Control of the bottleneck at 17,20 allows me to take Desperado planets in the tail below. No contest after that. | |
| BigB vs Gnu | Gnu's planets are all behind him as his empire connects to my #10. Guess who wins? | |
| BigB vs cyberwitch | I'm at the bottom of the well and he's on top. I overcome the disadvantage. | |
| BigB vs Friendly | My planets are behind me, his are in front of him. Once I controlled the space around 20,20 Friendly conceded. | |
| BigB vs Skai | My 4th game vs Skai. When my sci slips through to his homeworld, he concedes to my obvious setup advantage. | |
| BigB vs cyberwitch | Second game against him. This time, he's at the bottom of the well and I'm on top. | |
| BigB vs Skai | My 5th game against him, Skai is becoming a force to be reckoned with. He has the setup here as I am at the far end of a long chain, but again, I overcome adversity when Skai has his defense in the wrong place. | |
| BigB vs ReddSonya | The main battles in this game were fought well into ReddSonya space at 19,25. | |
| BigB vs Katuluu | BigB finds that annoying Kat on a distant homeworld. Some clever manuvering allows me to fight through the bottleneck. |
| BigB and DPR vs KnifeFighter and Fighters | A Team Lazy Grudge pitting Clan W.A.R. vs Clan Red Triad |
| BigB vs Aztec | I started the Tiberia series in honor of Amanda Dalrymple, a terrific SC player who passed away. I missed joining the very first one, so I got in the second. A rather non-descript game, but I kept it in honor of Tiberia. She is missed. See the Tiberia link on KnifeFighter's page for more info about Amanda. |
| BigB vs Sir Ashram | The newbie has the setup advantage yet he takes his lumps, as I overcome yet another setup. |
| BigB vs Blitz | First game in a best 2 out of 3 against an Old Timer I have wanted to play for a long time. |
| BigB vs Blitz | The second game against Blitz. With homeworlds one jump apart. The planet in between get nuked several times. |
| BigB vs Greon | A relatively new player, Greon got my #9 planet in a lousy setup for me. Later, Sat Wall frustration led to lessons traded for a draw. Otherwise, Greon should have eventually won. |
| BigB vs SYGMA | Now this is a BAD setup. For SYGMA. Still he gives me a rough time as he gets BR2 first and almost takes me. Experience and calmness under pressure save the day |
| BigB vs Lord Doome | The Blitz Nuke is used for an 8 update win. |
| BigB vs HardCore | He won our first game, this is the second. He has the setup and takes my #9 and 10 planets. Major battles at Destruction City. But I overcome adverstity again due to another case of defending the wrong planet. HardCore ships lay useless in No Man's Land. |
| BigB vs Catmania | Here, I teach a newbie how it's done. |
| BigB vs Death Angels | My first victory in a Nemesis series game. Control of the double pipeline north followed by a very nice 14 planet pop trick. The econ advantage was unstoppable. |
| BigB vs BugLady | BugLady won game one. This is game 2 of a best 2 out of 3 series. | |
| BigB vs Neo Libido | Notice the cloaker on my homeworld | |
| BigB vs pantarei II | I lucked out as I stumbled onto a pop trick in progress | |
| BigB vs Alexia | He won our first game, this is the rematch | |
| BigB vs C.O.R.E. | BigB bangs heads and stalls C.O.R.E. while colonizing the southern chain. | |
| BigB vs DAN CARVEL | A nice example of controlled overbuilding | |
| BigB vs Manetheren | A hard fought game against my clan mate, played during a Clan Tournament. Heavy engineering required | |
| BigB vs Coroscant | BigB overcomes a bad setup against a rusty Old Timer. Check out the comments. | |
| BigB vs SBlaster | Another barbell setup in which SBlaster's food is closer to BigB. Timely exploration does the trick. | |
| BigB vs xer | A fairly easy win since xer had an extremely poor linear chain setup | |
| BigB vs Pink Panthers | BigB accepts concession after lucky exploration finds the Pink Panther Homeworld | |
| BigB vs Fighters of Freedom | A nice ring setup in which Fighters pays a little too much attention to attacking and fails to colonize an important resource planet. | |
| Osmosis | Tough battles around the center cell double chain. |
| Old Timers Game | Masterful strategy, underhanded coniving, subtle trickery, and of course glorious battle are all parts of the game. This game was filled with tricks, traps, and diplomatic shenanigans, and when the game is filled by six old-timers all of these tricks have to be used in order to win the game. | |
| BugLady | Rubber Match of the best 2 out of 3 game series. Read the synopsis. This game led to the Chat Room House Rule for not looking at maps until both players have entered the game. | |
| BigB vs KnifeFighter | A great game against the ever popular Knife...see the game commentary...85 updates | |
| BigB vs BugLady | I wanted an Old Timer quality opponent for win 100 and turned some other offers down but when BugLady took up the challenge, I could not refuse. A hellacious game. Commentary included. |

| BigB vs Bohonos | Second game in the best 2 out of 3 for the privlege of joining Bloodguard Clan W.A.R. Bohonos took the first one against Manetheren. |
| BigB vs Bohonos | Third game in the best 2 out of 3 for the privlege of joining Bloodguard Clan W.A.R. Bohonos lost the second against BigB. |
