Bartending is a job in the food and beverage service business. A bartender serves drinks, alcoholic, non-alcoholic drinks, along with food occasionally. A bartender tends to be a very appealing job due to the steady pay, and the fact that your always meeting new people. The personality test that I took gave me information stating that I would work well with people, so the test and I came up with the job of a bartender. You need good social skills that will make your bar have a good atmosphere so people will not just come once they will come back many times.
Environment and Outlook
A bartenders job is actually pretty simple, they prepare cocktails and other drinks for the waiters or waitresses. They also serve drinks directly to the customers and collect payments, from customers sitting at the bar. They keep track of inventory of bar supplies and sometimes supervise other bar staff.
According to a survey done by the government jobs in bartending are very limited as of right now, but over the next five years it is expected to stay the same because the number of job openings are expected to be filled by qualified job seekers. But as of right now the limited job openings are due to the lack of employment opportunities and salary. The average salary of a twenty one to twenty nine year old bartender is twenty thousand dollars, where the high end is twenty seven thousand. But as you gain experience though your salary increases.
Bartenders usually require a college or other bartending programs before starting the job. Another method of obtaining a job as a bartender is to take courses in mixing drinks or something related in nature. Bartending is not a job, where anyone can walk up and be one, they have jobs such as a bartenders assistant, serving people before bartending also gets you ready for what can be expected and required.
