A Note on Buying Collectables When buying any collectable remember the rule, "Buyer Beware". There are uneducated collectors and dealers, and some downright unscrupulas, that give false information and/or discriptions on there offerings. Many I have seen are indeed unaware of there mis-information, some WANT to beleave there misleading information, It helps sell the item at a higher price, some will say anything to sell the item. Know what your buying, when in doubt, take the time to find out before you purchase. While On this subject I must say there are many good dealers. Thay know there customers rely on there reputations and knowledge. When establishing a value on a spacific item there are three main things to remember, condition, condition and condition. In perfect condition, A Toy, with A box and all the original packageing in perfect condition, with a key in perfect condition, and instruction sheet in perfect condition may go as high as $7500.00 at A well known auction house. On the other hand, that same toy, rusted out, dented, opened and does not work, missing the antena and many internal parts may be found at A flea market for $5.00, the same toy.
I tried to stay away from pricing. I do not like
price guides. The most famous (or infamous) is so missleading.
Many times I hear "Its book value is $$$$$$". There are many "Books" and
thay all have different prices. Which book did thay use ? "The Book" ? Thay
used "The Book" and quote the "C10" price. But there toy is missing pieces,
It does not wind and of course its missing the windshield. If you read the
"The Book" you will see that the "C10" condition denotes "Mint in A Box".
I included prices only as A matter of record, This is the best
way I can think of to give an idea of value, or worth.
If you think you have something to add, please E-Mail me and let me know, I'm intrested ! If I use your info you will be rewarded with A free copy of this on CD.
