Varianto Elektro Lasto 3112U
Battery powered the 3112U has an off-on switch (seen in the photo as the red knob on the rear of the bed) and will accept A steering wire (the hole in the hood). Pushing on either side of the frunt bumper stops the Vehicle. The Wind-Up version of this truck is the Lasto 3042.
This Photo shows A red 3112U from my own collection. The box top shows the 3112U with "AA" batterys in place. I can only assume that batterys were smaller in those days because modern day "AA" batterys are just too big to fit. I use "AAA" batterys and A piece of aluminum foil in the rear of the bed connecting the two batterys. You have no off-on switch this way but you can use the frunt bumper to turn it off and on and it does not damage anything. On the top of the cab you may notice that it appears that something is missing where the marker light should be on the drivers side. However all the Elektro trucks and 3118 Station Cars are the same way. These contacts were used by several accessorys including the 3055 Gas Station to recharge the batteries. (see the Varianto Parts List to see the 3055 Gas Station.)
