Service Station 3055
This "Shell" service station (from my colection) was made to be used with the Varianto Elektros. Equiped with A external trafo (transformer), purchased seperatelly, this station would recharge the batteries in the Elektros. With a system of spring loaded "Stops" this station would keep your Elektros running for hours on end without changing the batteries. A single light bulb illuminates the station for night time refuelings.
In this pic the Varianto Lasto 3112U is seen entering the station. The first thing it will do is hit the red peg now seen just in front of the truck. This peg is connected to the stop on the other side of the station where the auto going in the oposing direction is now charging. When this peg is pushed in by the vehicle entering the station it releases the auto now charging on the other side of the station. On the left side of the pic you can see the green peg which will hold the truck while charging.
Here the Varianto Lasto 3112U has been stopped by its green peg leaving it at rest in the proper position to receive a charge. It will sit here charging untill the vehicle going in the other direction, remember the other auto was released when the truck entered the station, returns and hits its red peg releasing this auto. The charge is delivered to the Elektro through the two contacts touching the roof of the trucks cab (marked L 65). These contacts are spring loaded disks which make contact with the metal marker lights on the top of each Elektro (see pics below).
From left to right, close ups of the charging disks on the Station, the recepticles on the Varianto Lasto 3112U, and the recepticles on the Varianto Station Car 3118.
Paper label on the top of the 3055's large harmonica box with drop down front.
