Copies and Contributions
Current September 1999.

Color prints from negatives. As a general rule, you can look at the PicData list to see if a 35mm neg is listed as the source for the image you want. If you are looking for a copy of the reunion group picture this is for you. I will send these images out for traditional color copy prints. They will require two week processing, and 4 days handling. The following cost includes cropping to reformat the image.
8x10 $7.00 plus shipping @ 5.00 = $12.00
5x7 $5.00 plus shipping @ $5.00 = $10.00

JPG only images. Some of the PicData images were sent to me electronically (email etc) and only exist in one resolution. If the image you want has no .TIF source file for me to go back to, then the best quality image you can get will be the .JPG that displays when you view the large photo on your computer. If you right-click on the image and save the .JPG file to your computer, you will have the same quality file as I have. So if you have a good inkjet printer (mine is an Epson 1520, with 1440ppi output) and use glossy photo paper, or know where to take the file (the .JPG file should fit easily onto a floppy disc), you can print it yourself, save time and trouble, and keep the disc as your digital-negative.

Color prints from digital files using my equipment. If requested I can print copies of the digital-only images and send them to you. When I scan an image I usually retain a higher resolution (300-500ppi versus 72ppi) source file in .TIF format, and then dumb-down the quality to it's web-page version (in .JPG) format. I have a high quality inkjet printer which means that it is almost as good as the old photosensitive paper process. Some pros say that these inkjet versions degrade faster over time and exposure to UV, but the ones I have printed show no signs of fading after five or six years. Contact me, identify the image, and your address. It will be a little cheaper than sending out for true photographic copies, but in the same ballgame.

High Resolution copy images. If there is a 35mm neg available, a print from this will be the best quality at the least cost. If I don't list a 35mm source negative, and if I have a .TIF source file you have some more choices . If you want the hightest quality possible or a oversized print (without a 35mm neg) this is your choice. Contact me and we'll talk about some options.

Postage & handling notes: The above information is based on: $3.20 Priority Mail, 3 days, encludes envelope, $.35 extra for delivery confirmation, $.85 insurance up to $50, cardboard insert, $5.00 total cost for size up to 8x10.

Contributions. Please send contributions to the PicData list. I will decide if the picture warrants posting in the common archive. My criteria for selection is: (1) very old photos of central ancestors, (2) large group photos, (3) photos with special action or backdrops. (4) Pictures of me when skinny (just kidding).
