Philly Ferrets wishes to dedicate this page
to Dr. Anna Edling and the staff at Hickory
Veterinary Hospital who go way beyond the call of duty and most of
all for Anna for all the care and compassion and support she has given
us.

If you are interested in any
of our ferrets, please read our Shelter Information
page before e-mailing us. Thank
You!

Nike and Stanley-Nike is a 3 year old sable
mutt and Stanley is a 2 year old chocolate. Both have a ton of energy.
(they live with our kits!) Both are rough and tumble ferrets who love to
rough house with us and other ferrets. Stanley loves to play with little
plastic easter eggs and to like to be spun around in our big plastic ferret
ball. Nike loves to chase our dog & cat (Potential adoptive parents
take note of this). Nike is a real climber and he likes to look out the
window. He really likes to have the window open and he will sit there for
awhile. He does scratch at the screen so you would need to keep an eye
on him while he enjoys watching the world go by. I really think he would
like outings to the park and for walks. He also like to make a rush for
the door if you are leaving. Nike is a wonderful active ferret. Both
love to play with other ferrets in tunnels and bags and ferret bowling.
Nike was turned into Morris Animal Refuge due to his owner moving and Stanley
due to the fact his owners could no longer care for him. Stanley has a
hind end weakness problem due to being raised on a wire floor and never
being allowed out of his cage. Stanley has been with for about a year now
and has made a wonderful improvement. He does have difficulty with ramps
and stairs and is vulnerable to other ferrets on his back. He is learning
to fight in his own dirty way (he like to bite the ferrets in the butt).
He is learning to use the stairs but requires very close supervision so
he does not tumble down them or fall off the side. In just the last couple
months he has been able to climb up the stairs which is a real triumph
for him. Also at times he does have difficulty moving quickly to the litter
box which results in the occasional accident. Stanley is a wonderful ferret
and just a totally joy to watch how he hops around. Both ferrets live with
two of my girls Molli & Andi.
If you are interested in adopting Nike and Stanley please e-mail
us.
We will have pictures of these ferrets in the near future
Timon & Baby Bear- Timon and Baby Bear are both boys and are about 20 months old. They were brought to the shelter because their owner was having a baby and did not feel they would get the same care as before. Timon is a cinnamon and Baby Bear is a dark eyed white. Both are really nice ferrets and very playful. Although they live together Timon hates other ferrets and will chase them around and beat them up during their playtime and in the cage and this makes Baby Bear very unhappy and lonely. They play wonderfully together and with us. They have been together their entire lives and in saying that they will NOT be separated. Timon and Baby bear would do best in a home where they are the only ferrets that live there. Both loves tubes and bags and baby stuffed toys. Baby Bear loves to steal toilet paper rolls and paper towels and hid them behind the couch. If you try and take it away he will hiss and try and run around you. We let him hid them since he gets so much enjoyment out of doing it. It's really fun to watch him either carry them or let them roll down the step and say his name and he'll hiss. A great pair of fun loving ferrets as long as no other ferrets are around.

Clay- He is a 3 year old sable who was dropped off on a lady's porch and she brought him to Morris Animal Refuge. He really likes sleeping in a hammock and sleep sack. We are trying to introduce him to toys he will wrestle with little ones and is very interested in our dog & cat but he does not like other ferrets. He really hates it when they stand up on his cage. Clay is definitely for an *only* ferret family. He like to be chased and held and is very affectionate now. He is one of the few ferrets who hates to be on his back. He will sleep on his back but hates to be put on his back and played with. Clay only like Innova cat food and loves his cheerios.

Stinkie, Buster, Oliver & Grace- Little bundles of energy.
All four of these ferrets are around 1 year of age and younger.
Grace is a beautiful sable girl and is ready for a new home.
She loves other ferrets old and young but naturally would be happier with
someone close to her age. She loves to play and run and is a joy to have
around She loves running though the tube and playing in plastic bags. Grace
came wandering into a person's back door and they could not keep her so
she came here. Stinkie
is a chocolate boy who is under a year of age. He came from the Morris
Animal Refuge and is undergoing bite rehab. I don't really consider him
a really bad biter, he just needs to learn some manners. He loves to run
and play with anyone and anything! He loves the tube and chasing after
the boys. He can handle himself with any ferret and he loves to play rough.
If you are interested in Stinkie please
e-mail
us. Buster is a big beautiful champagne boy. I do mean big. He is
a rough and tumble ferret who loves to play and wrestle with Stinkie and
anyone else he can find.Buster came to us as a 8 week old kit after the
owners had already had him for almost three weeks. He was biting and trying
to nurse on their older ferret and sucking on her ears, which is too much
stress for almost any ferret. He still nips sometimes and we are working
hard with him so that he will be ready for placement soon. Oliver is
a chocolate boy who has a gentle disposition. He like to play but not the
rough & tumble stuff like Stinkie & Buster like. He loves to play
with Annie and run though the tubes and plastic bags and stuffed animals.
Oliver is also ready for placement.
Adopting a shelter ferret is a huge responsibility. Ferrets are placed here for the usual reasons, but some have endured serious experiences, mental and physical. Please give careful and serious thought before taking in a shelter ferret. Philly Ferrets reserves the right to turn away any potential adoptive parents at any time.
If you would like to know more about
our ferrets for adoption please read our Shelter
Information page and then e-mail
us. Thank you
