WELCOME TO THE NURSERY

Mara & Trevor

Mara and Trevor became parents on
Easter Weekend. Mara gave birth to five girls and two boys.
As you can see from the pictures
of Trevor we were hoping to see some interesting colors and hopefully a
blaze and we were not disappointed. After a couple weeks we could see the
stripe on two heads and mitts on two other kits not long after. Mara had
two black/silver roan mitts (Boy & girl) two sable blazes (boy &
girl) two black sables & one siamese sable (all girls). These babies
were big right from the start and they kept growing. We started them on
supplemental feeding at about 4 weeks to help Mara out and they quickly
took to their chicken & turkey mush. We eagerly awaited for the time
for them to open their eyes. It's always one of my favorite times. Not
too long after that we realized the the two blazes were deaf. Although
were we disappointed for them it has not slowed them down at all, both
blazes remain the toughest ferrets in that group and play just like any
other kit. We have the three girls available for placement in good homes.
We have two black sables and one siamese sable available. Everyone had
homes already in mind but one person changed their mind and we had two
people interested from New York which we had to turn them down after New
York passed their new ordinance banning ferrets in the city.
Goldie
Goldie was due the same weekend
that Mara was and she decided not to have kits although she seemed very
upset to hear Mara's babies crying. Goldie was a great mom last year and
we have decided to wait till next year to try again.
Sierra

Sierra was due Memorial Day weekend
and she also decided not to have a litter of kits this year. Sierra will
be three in December and BJ appears to be ready to retire so both will
be spayed and neutered and will enjoy the rest of their lives here with
us and their playmates.
We don't adopt out our retired breeding ferrets. They are part of our families.

If you would like information
about adopting a kits please read our Shelter Information
page and then
.
Kit adoptions are handled in the same manner shelter adoptions. Potential
adoptive parents must go though a telephone interview and a interview here
at the shelter. We reserve the right to turn anyone down at any time. We
are not a pet store. All kit adoption fees go toward caring for our
older shelter ferrets. Kit adoption fees are $150.00 with a $50.00 spay/neuter
rebate. All kits MUST be spayed/neutered. Kits are not descented. Descenting
is allowed only if medically necessary.
