Cotton is our 16 year old Samoyed. Or, should I say we're her humans. She lets us know when she wants a cookie or a chewey stick by just going to where we keep them, and she'll stand in line waiting. Cotton is the neighborhood dog, as everyone in the neighborhood knows her, and she will go visit them when she's out front. Valerie sprung her from "doggie jail" 14 years ago, and they are best friends. The Samoyed breed is a beautiful dog, with practically no aggression. Samoyed dogs are cold weather dogs, so they have very thick coats. I've noticed that Cotton still feels hot when it's 40 degrees, so they are definitely not the kind of dog you want to have in the desert southwest. Samoyeds make wonderful pets, but, you have to be prepared. Samoyeds shed. Not just a little, but, "a dog a day".
