Ellie, Dee and I have been gathering information on our geneology. So far, we've traced it back to the year 1623 when Henry Penland was born in Scotland. Some time before 1695, he emigrated to America and settled in Monmouth County New Jersey. His grandson John Penland, moved first to Chester County Pennsylvania, then to New Castle Delaware. His grandson John Newton Penland, who served as a spy during the Revolutionary War, moved to Buncombe County North Carolina which is how our branch of the Penland Family got to the Asheville area. I've put the information that we've collected on the The Family Tree
Many thanks to my cousin Bill for sending me the information he has.|
Henry Penland was born about 1623 in Inveresk, Midlothian, Edinburgh Co, Scotland. Some time in his life (I'm not sure when) he
emmigrated to Monmouth County New Jersey. I am working to complete this "Family Tree" of his but since I am a direct
descendant of his, I am spending more time on my direct lineage. If you have any information that you don't see here, please
e-mail me with the information that you have. Thanks
