I remember many times when I was knee high to a chicken going to Wildwood with the whole (what there was at that time) family. I think there was Uncle Ed, Aunt Dolores, Me and my Mom of course, the Penland's, Minnich's and Dale's. They were good times. It took the whole tribe to raise this kid, believe me. I don't remember my father ever going. It was always a Bade side of the family thing. I remember the nights of full moon when the tide came in and water came into the first floor of the house and those were those big houses with what seemed like ten apartments in them. I remember going to the shore with the Dale's many times also to Wildwood and the flooding conditions. My brother John will attest to this provided, of course, that I got my facts straight, but we saw our first movie at a drive-in down there called Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. To this day that movie has fond memories for me. John do you remember the names of the seven brothers? They were Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Emmanuel, Frankincense and Gideon. They called the one Frankincense because he smelled so sweet.
Love,
Jim
Dear Jim,
Yer' danged tootin' right I remember that movie. I remember everything (unfortunately) that happened in the old days. That is why I feel so ANCIENT!!!!!!!
I can even tell You what the weather was like. It was my Mother in Law, who explained to me, that My memory is not common. As a new member of Nancy's family, I may have mentioned a few things in early conversations, You know, like television programs or what kind of cars I liked. Later on I'd be more comfortable, then I'd sound like this; "On September 14th, 1956, at 2:14PM.",this happened."
Nancy's mother asked, "How can You do that". Jimmy, I thought everybody could! She made me realize I had to stop. It made me feel like some kind of circus freak! To this day I hold back. Joe O'Toole, (The Masked Ryder) of "Ryder Brothers" fame, used to laugh at my memory. He asked our bass player one day if he'd like to know the weather report for Calcutta, 11 months and 4 days ago, to go ask John!
People at Saturn during the lunch break, would approach me with questions about their crossword puzzle they were doing. They knew that I was a mountain of worthless information or trivia. Enough! I just aged another 30 years, "YUCK"
Love Johnny.
Once Mom commented on the unususal wall paper border in one of the rooms ........the lady Mom was speaking to said, "oh that's just a water mark , from a flood we had". Mom noticed it was just a few feet down from the ceiling , and didn't sleep too well that night. Does anyone else remember this?
Jim, those pictures in Mom's album taken on a board walk,(you and John are pretty small and the pictures are in color) were these taken on one of these trips?
I think Uncle Johnny was in one of those pictures, I'm not sure.
