Fun times with Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Earl By Ann (Preston) Lennox
I remember playing a board game with Uncle Earl for hours and hours, day after day. It was called "Barbie's Dream Date". I can't recall much about it, but the object was to not end up with a guy named "Poindexter". Uncle Earl would usually draw that card would always laugh so hard.
I remember whenever my Dad was going to their house he would say, " I'll be at 6". (since their address was 106 Cedar)
I remember Uncle Earl handing me the telephone so I could say hi to cousin Earl, when he was stationed in Colorado, (I couldn't believe you could talk to someone so far away)
I remember going with them to the June Fete in the antique car. I loved it and for quite a few years, I went back there especially to see the antique cars.
I remember learning how to sew using a pattern. Mom taught me to sew by hand, and Aunt Dorothy taught me to use her sewing machine. Aunt Dorothy always said, " for a professional result, always hand knot the threads of each seam, even though you back stitch (I still do that). When I was about 13, I was going to make a dress for a dance. Mom had a green velvet dress, and Aunt Dorothy helped me take that dress apart to use the fabric for the new dress. It turned out great.
I remember when Paul, Joey and Andy were little they liked to go to Aunt Dorothy's. They called her house "Aunt Dorothy's Cake Store" because something good was always baking and smelled so good.
