Ghosts:

The most under-used, and most mis-understood unit has got to be the Ghost. Trained in the Ghost program from infancy, they are able to cloak, and are total professionals, skilled in their abilities. Cloak, Lockdown, and Nuclear Strike are all important functions of the Ghost. Some important structures and add-ons have to be built to allow the ghost to operate at it's full capacity.

First, the Science Facility has to be built, and then the Covert Ops attatchment has to be in place. At Covert Ops, there are 4 upgrades which help the Ghost to his job:

Lockdown - Uses the C-10 Canister Rifle, temporarily disables machanized units

Ocular Implants - surgery to replace eyes with sight-range enhancing cybernetic devices

Personal Cloaking - stealth technology using a personal cloaking field

Moebius Reactor - extends life of normal energy reactor equipment

To The Right: An example of LOCKDOWN - when a ghost has this upgrade, an 'energy bubble' is created that disables the unit. VERY fustrating for the enemy. Excellent for use against other Terrans, O.K. for use against Protoss, and not practical at all against the biological (non-mechanical) Zerg.

Train a lot of Ghosts to use this often - get energy upgrade for more use.

Nuclear Strike:

When preparing for a Nuclear Strike (a devastating blow to the enemy), you need everything required for the Ghost, plus a Nuclear Silo attatchment for the Command Center.

Because of the minerals involved, this is really only used in the large map, 4-hour, multiple base games. The damage done can be un-measurable, especially when there are units close-by to get the splash damage.

Sometimes your Nuclear Strike will flop [and may actually damage your units], so careful planning is involved in this. To launch an effective strike, the best thing to do is get the Ocular Implants, which allow you to stand (cloaked) far enough away from the target without being detected (or destroyed in blast). Once you arm the Nuclear Silo [Big $$$], you can select it as a Ghost option. Then, you get as close to a gathering of units, then select your target. The laser beam will focus on your target and guide the missle there. Depending upon the size of the map [and locations], you will have to wait some amount of time for the missle to get there.

Pictured above is the moment before the missle hits the target. Note the distance of the Ghost from the target. Without the Ocular Implants, it would have to be almost 1/2 the distance, and without evasive action, the Ghost would be Toast (See Below).

Every object in range gets splash damage from a Nuclear Strike.
