Of course, no StarCraft site would be complete without the BROOD WAR Expansion Set news! IT'S OUT NOW!!!! Hooraaaaay! All new characters to destroy your enemy with! At around $30, you must have the original StarCraft CD Rom to use it. There are four new terrains, including ice, and desert. The new characters / units are: Terran - Medic and Valkrie, Zerg - Lurker and Devourer, Protoss - Dark Templar and Corsair. There are plenty of new upgrades too. A lot of fixes [improvements] to version 1.0, one being new look to the Zergling leaping animation! There is a new (continuing) storyline - and of course - a few new characters, as well as our old friends. :-)

Beta Version of Brood War was released on October 19, 1998. After an intense screening, testing, and feedback process, on December 18, 1998, the final product was released in the U.S. and Canada. PC users everywhere logged on to Battle.net to use the new gaming network, and play the cool new game patch. Macintosh users received their own release of StarCraft, and eventually the BROOD WAR expansion set, but at a later date.

Released by Aztech New Media (www.aztech.com), this authorized set of campaigns and maps brings even MORE excitement and adventure to an already classic game. Although it's a '3rd party vendor', all that ensures is that it was designed by professionals! There are no discrepancies with the original Blizzard storyline (I'm sure that is why it was approved!). I have personally played many of the maps, and I have to give it my 'thumbs up'! If I ever find out the date this was released, I will post it here!
