Terran Wraith:

One of my favorite strategies is to build 12+ wraiths, and after all 6 upgrades in armory (3 weapons, 3 sheilds), find the enemies weak spot and start picking them off one by one. Wraiths can be a complete waste of time and $$ without upgrades. First, it's great to destroy the enemy SCVs/ Drones/ Probes, so they loose their income, and they can 'starve' to death slowly. This can only happen later in the game, so if you're playing with rushers, you'll never get to do this. In fact, you will not get to experience 95% of the game when you rush, so I strongly discourage rushing.

To the left, is a screenshot of 12 undamaged wraiths. After the control tower is built, you can get the cloaking upgrade, as well as the colossal reactor, which extends the shield energy.


To be effective in battle, the Wraith should have [at least some] upgrades from the Armory.

After your wraith reactor is charged up, you can cloak and attack the enemy base. You will usually get a lot of hits in before you are detected by anything. Stay away from Missle Turrets, Spore Colonies, and Photon Cannons - they are also cloaking sensors! Also, Sience Vessels, Overlords, and Observers are mobile cloaking sensors. One edge that the Terran race has, is the ComSat Station (attatches to the Command Center). For 50 energy points, you can scan, and detect any area on the map, which exposes all cloaked objects, as well as revealing the map. Below, you can see my cloaked wraiths being destroyed because the enemy has detected me with their ComSat Station. The blue sparkles (and sound) will always let you know you are being scanned. The scan only lasts for a few seconds each time, but the data acquired is enough to finish most battles.

The battle lasts a while, but wraiths are no match for the new Valkyries.
There are too many enemy troops to deal with here, so the wraiths will
lose this one unless they retreat.
Good point: it is effective to retreat back to base for repairs by SCV's. It
is worth much more to save a unit, rather than build a new one!
