gaudi a go-go!

Most of the pictures here are actually of the Sagrada Familia Church in Barcelona. I think I have a few more that I'll be scanning soon to add to this page.

Antoni Gaudi was the visionary architect who designed the Sagrada Familia.
His structures sparkle in the Barcelona cityscape like diamonds and emeralds in a pile of stones.

It's hard to not be drawn in by the beauty and oddness of his elaborately ornamented buidings.

This page features some architectural details I noticed while in Barcelona. It also serves as a memorial for myself until I get a chance to go back...

(from across the street) I paid the admission and actually climbed to the top of those spires. The view was worth it, even though it took about an hour to climb.
Cool spires saying 'Excelsis' and 'Hosana'

A view of the cathedral from (i think) the west.
While inside the church, I found interesting nooks and crannies. People have written their names on the walls in many different languages.

I think this is the portal of love, the eastern facade of the chrurch |

Construction was started in the late 1800s and is still not nearly complete today.

Look up!
