SP A I N !

  photos of Barcelona!

Over the years, I've made three trips to Spain... I really like the country, the people and the culture. It's so beautiful and sunny.

Click here to see many photos of different travels!!!

The first time I went, in the winter of '92, I was mostly in Granada for five weeks, with trips to Sevilla, Cordoba, Toledo, Madrid, and other small cities (Ronda - a beautiful little town, Torremolinos, Almunecar, other Costa del Sol towns)

My second visit was in the summer of '95, I went to see Julie in Madrid. The 1st time in Madrid, I didn't like it too much. I thought it was too big and too dirty and stuff. The city doesn't seem at first glance as fun or interesting as it can be. She knew all the cool places to go, since she lived there for a semester, and was teaching English there and had a lot of friends. I planned to be there about 10-12 days, but ended up staying a little more than a month! Thanks, Julie!!!

Madrid is really a great city. There are so many great places to go out to, so many cool museums, lots of good nightlife and shopping, interesting people, and tapas bars!

I always dreamed of going to Barcelona to see the architecture of Antoni Gaudi. Wow. That stuff really blows me away, even just seeing it in a art book. So I had to go there, you know, as a pilgrimage, I guess I'd say. I convinced my friend Mariano to come with me. Plus I figured him being Spanish, his language skills were much better than my measly 4 years of high school and 2 semesters of college Spanish... Plus he was very cute!!! (Unfortunately he's still there, probably found a million new girls... and for some reason, I'm still here..., oh well. that's life, I guess.)

Before I came home and back to reality, I also managed to visit all kinds of fun castles and interesting old places along the way to the Costa Brava. We went to Valencia and Alicante. Actually we stayed in a small fishing town turned resort called Benidorm. No, I didn't go topless... I was afraid I might get sunburn on my top parts and that would be painful! My skin is very pale.

Soon I'll organize all of this page and add more pictures, but for now, you can go check out the Antoni Gaudi/ Barcelona page. Ok, It's a little biased towards Sagrada Familia... I'm not sorry. After climbing all around and through that amazing structure... well I'm still in awe.

More photos of espana to come... I hope...
