This is a critique of the article "Bethlehem Defies its 
Biblical Image" (Dec. 23, 1996)  which was written by Hilary 
Appelman for the Associated Press.

Here's Hilary Appelman's lead for her article on Bethlehem, as it 
appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer (Dec, 23, 1996) :  "If Mary and 
Joseph were making their journey to Bethlehem today , they'd probably 
get stopped at an Israeli army roadblock."

Here's how it could have read: "If Mary and Joseph were making their 
journey to Bethlehem today they'd probably bless the Israeli army for 
taking every security precaution." 

It all depends on your point of view.  Also on your personal bias. 
For a journalist who reporting should be as objective as possible, 
Hilary Appelman's anti-Israel bias is crystal clear.
