Dear Sir:

Recently Hosni Mubarak, the president of Egypt has made
threatening statements toward Israel. In an interview with the French
newspaper Liberation, he stated that Egypt would not sit still if war
broke out between Syria and Israel. Washington staffers say that this
is a most worrisome statement.

And well it should be. Washington has been arming Egypt to the
teeth in return for a "peace" which it now becomes clear, was only a
temporary ploy by Egypt to get American weapons. There were many signs that
the peace treaty made by Egypt was just a ploy including the numerous violations
of the trade agreements that were part of the treaty but these violations
have been ignored and the United States continues to arm Egypt.

If this isn't enough to worry our Washington policy makers,
Iraq is upgrading its diplomatic relations with Egypt to a full
ambassadorial level for the first time since the Gulf War. This should
cause our policy makers enough concern that they rethink the wisdom of
their policies that preserved a substantial amount of the military power
of Iraq at the end of the Gulf war.

It is only a matter of time before Syria Egypt and Iraq attack Israel.
There will be no Arab coalition to help the United States this time and
once again the United States will be faced with enemies armed with American
weapons.

							Sincerely,

							Mark Feinstein
